Pool Dining Table Questions

  • What is a diner pool table?

A pool dining table comes with hard tops that cover the top and transform it from a pool table to a dining table. The perfect choice if you don’t want to dedicate so much of your home to a single function games table.

  • Does a diner-style pool table play as well as a standard pool table?

They play just as well. The main difference is the slimmer cabinet that allows you to fit your legs under. This doesn’t affect the play at all, it may cause more noise however pool dining tables often take measures to negate this.

  • Are diner pool tables too tall to use with regular dining chairs?

No, the tables are perfectly compatible with regular dining chairs. Many opt for backless seats instead though since they can be tucked under the table when not in use.

  • How heavy and difficult are they to convert between dining and pool modes?

The tops are normally 2 pieces. They don’t weigh so much they’re impossible to move on your own. We recommend you use two people though just to ensure there is no damage to the table or yourselves.

  • What dimensions/room space do I need for a dining pool table?

As a general rule the space required is the internal play area + a cue length in each direction. Refer to a size guide for specific dimensions. If it seems tight we suggest dropping the cue length rather than sacrificing the table size.

  • What materials and build quality should I look for when buying a dining pool table?

The biggest quality differentiator is a slate bed vs. an MDF one. MDF might be lighter but you will never match the play surface quality you reach with a slate bed.

  • Do they include ball return and dining top?

All pool dining tables include matching tops at no extra cost. They also all have ball returns. Some models conceal their ball returns in hidden drawers to disguise the fact they’re pool tables when in dining table mode.

  • Is professional delivery and installation needed for a diner pool table?

It is not required but highly recommended. A slate bed pool table will typically weigh around 200kg which is difficult to manage. Also installers will ensure your table is perfectly level.

  • How long is delivery and what are service costs?

This will vary depending on model. Some models & finishes are held in stock and can be with you in under 3 weeks. If it has to be made to order then it can be anything from 6-12 weeks. There are typically no additional fees beyond delivery & installation.
