• What materials are outdoor pool tables made of?

Outdoor pool tables are made of weather resistant materials – normally treated MDF. This makes them resistant to warping. They also use a cloth with a nylon blend instead of wool that is more durable.

• Can outdoor pool tables stay outside year‑round?

Yes, outdoor pool tables are designed to be outside all year. However, if they’re not being used for a long time it is recommended to cover or shelter them as best you can.

• Do outdoor pool tables need special covers?

You want a cover that completely covers the cabinet & cloth. You actually don’t want a cover that goes all the way to the ground since it traps the air under the table and leads to damp and mold. You can get boards to put across the table that prevent the cover sagging onto the play surface.

• What’s the best playing surface for outdoor pool tables? Slate or MDF?

A slate playing surface is always better than an MDF one however it isn’t necessarily always practical. Some tables will use MDF to remain lightweight and others will use slate to offer a game on par with an indoor pool table.

• How much space do I need around an outdoor pool table?

An outdoor table needs the same space as an indoor one. Refer to a sizing guide to see what size table & cues your space can accommodate. If you are concerned about space it’s recommended to drop your cue sizes instead of sacrificing the size of the table.

• Can outdoor pool tables withstand different climates (UV, humidity, salt air)?

Yes! They are specifically built to withstand the elements and weather – even in Britain. It’s not recommended to leave them totally exposed for extended periods but all come with a cover that is sufficient to protect them.

• Can I put a standard indoor pool table outside instead?

This is not recommended. It is likely the cloth is wool and will come away from the slate if exposed to extended moisture. Also the cabinet will not be built of treated MDF and will warp over time potentially irrevocably ruining the table.
